Fruit grading, packing and cool storage facilities on-site at Plunkett Orchards enables the control of fruit quality from tree to market.

Fruit is despatched to local and export fresh markets throughout Asia, U.K. and Canada, and to local processing facilities for canning and juicing.

Coolstorage rooms with a total capacity of 5250 bins were built between 1992 and 1997 for conventional and controlled-atmosphere fruit storage.

Rigorous grading procedures ensure that fruit processed at Plunkett Orchards is of the highest quality. Each piece of fruit is visually assessed by quality control staff and rejected if size, shape or appearance do not meet set standards.

The grading process is enhanced by the latest in digital scanning technology and split-second weighing equipment that sorts fruit by size into cartons, wooden fruit bins or cardboard hat bins.
